Little Fish employs a distinctive muscle memory teaching method. We’ll demonstrate swimming strokes firsthand, guiding your child to grasp proper technique from the start. We prioritize enjoyment in the water while honing swimming skills, and fostering a positive learning environment.
Your child can start swim lessons as young as 6-months old.
Each child's journey to swimming proficiency is unique, influenced by various factors such as their initial skill level, age, frequency of lessons, lesson format, and past aquatic experiences. These elements collectively determine the duration needed to attain their swimming objectives.
Little Fish accepts cash or credit card. A 5% discount is offered to those paying in cash as credit card fees are waived for Little Fish.
Upon arrival / prior to your child's first lesson, payment must be made up front for all lessons that are booked in advance.
Should you wish to consider a package lesson, please see below.
Little Fish teaches at Great Park, Irvine's swimming pool unless otherwise negotiated in advance. Should you wish for Kendra to teach at your own home's swimming pool or at another specified pool, there is an upcharge of $5 per lesson, if within a 10 minute radius of Great Park. If outside that region, an additional $10 per lesson is assessed. Should the swimming pool not be located in Irvine, please discuss further with Kendra.
Little Fish does offer additional discounts.
If 8 or more lessons is taken, an additional 5% discount is applied off the total price beginning with lesson number 8.
Should you pay cash an additional 5% is deducted.
The swim student should come dressed in or bring their swimsuit and towel. Little Fish’s swim premise provides showers that you will have the option to use after your lesson. Little Fish does not provide sunblock, please put this on your student if so desired. For intermediate students, the option to bring goggles and a swim cap is optional.
There are restrooms, changing rooms, and showers available on the premise.
For your child’s safety and the safety of others we have a double diaper policy. All children, regardless of age, that are not potty trained must wear one disposable swim diaper and one reusable swim diaper. This is the best way to prevent any unexpected accidents from impacting our swim lessons. Disposable swim diapers (e.g. Splashers or Little Swimmers) and reusable swim diapers (e.g. I-Play or Finis) can be purchased at select retailers or online.
The pool is located outside, and lessons will continue whether rain or shine. A lesson will only be canceled for unsafe weather conditions such as lightning.
Trial lessons are not offered. However, if you are not 100% satisfied with your lessons, please let us know and we will make it right with you.
To reschedule a lesson, you must inform Kendra a minimum of 24-hours prior to the scheduled appointment. Otherwise, please make the most of your lesson by arriving as close to on time as possible. Should you be late, please note that your lesson will end at the scheduled time to allow the next Little Fish their full allotted lesson time.
If you cancel your lesson at least 24 hours prior to your lesson time, you will be given a makeup lesson that can be scheduled any day and any time other than your regularly scheduled lesson time. Please contact Kendra to cancel.
While we do not offer sibling discounts, if your children are of the same learning level, we may be able to customize a swim package for you.
Should your initial lesson fail to meet your expectations and you're a new client with us, you have the option to request a complete refund for any remaining lessons. Refunds are exclusively available on the first day of your inaugural lesson package. Please note that refunds cannot be issued after the initial day of your first lesson.
A makeup lesson is awarded to your account for cancellations that are made at least 4 hours prior to the class start time. It can be used any day or time outside of your regular class schedule depending on availability. We give makeup classes for cancellations so that you have the opportunity to take the class on another day instead of missing out on the lesson.
You may utilize a makeup session at any time outside of your usual lesson slot, provided you have at least one paid, scheduled future lesson in your account. Makeup lessons can be scheduled up to 7 days in advance. Should you need to cancel a makeup lesson, you have the option to reschedule, provided the cancellation occurs at least 4 hours before the scheduled lesson time.
At Little Fish safety is paramount. We emphasize that you are solely responsible for supervising your child and ensuring their safety throughout their time with us, including trips to the bathroom. We kindly request your presence for the entirety of the swim lesson to uphold this commitment to safety.
Absolutely. However, if friends and family become a distraction to the child during the lesson we may ask them to leave.
